Consultation on the Proposed Disposal of Unused School Land

                                27th March 2026

Dear Parent, Carer, Local Resident or Community Member,

The Governing Board of the school is seeking views on a proposal to dispose of a small area of land owned by the school.

This piece of land has not been used for educational purposes for approximately 16 years and is currently in a derelict condition. The area is uneven, unlit and unfenced, and unfortunately it has occasionally been subject to antisocial behaviour, including fires being set. As a result, the Governing Board considers the land to be a liability rather than an asset for the school. A map of the land is enclosed.

The school does not have the financial resources required to restore or maintain the land to a safe standard that would make it suitable for pupil use. For this reason, Governors believe the land is surplus to the schools’ educational requirements.

Subject to approval from the Department for Education and the usual local planning processes, the Governing Board is proposing that the land is disposed of for development.

If this proposal is approved, all proceeds from the disposal would be reinvested directly into the school. Governors intend that this investment would support improvements to the schools’ facilities.

At a time when schools nationally are facing significant financial pressures and many school buildings require ongoing investment, governors believe this proposal represents an opportunity to secure funding that will directly benefit pupils.

Before any decision is finalised, the Governing Board is undertaking this consultation to give parents, residents and community members the opportunity to share their views.   You are invited to complete the short consultation eform which can be found Quilters Federation - Public Consultation March 2026 – Fill out form .  The consultation will remain open until 11th May 2026.

All responses will be considered carefully by the Governing Board before the school proceeds with the next stage of the process.

Thank you for taking the time to share your views.

Yours faithfully,

M Wade

Executive Headteacher
