Lateral Flow Testing (Jan 2021)
The Department for Education has recently announced that primary schools are to begin a programme of asymptomatic Covid-19 staff testing, starting during the week beginning the 25th January 2021. Our pupils will not be tested.
Along with the other protective measures we are taking, this testing will allow us to take further measures to control the spread of Covid-19 and keep the school environment as safe as possible.
Up to one in three people who have Covid-19 have the virus without symptoms so could be transmitting the virus unknowingly. Tackling the pandemic requires identifying asymptomatic, infectious individuals. By testing, we will help to reduce the spread in schools.
Quilters Staff will take two tests per week, every 3 to 4 days, starting from Tuesday 26th January 2021.
For the few parents who have key worker or vulnerable pupil in school, this means that we will be in a far stronger position to isolate any asymptomatic staff, should we have any, before they can infect anyone else. This is welcome. However, as the guidance states that taking the test is best done in the morning before coming to work, please note the likelihood of pods being closed at short notice will be heightened and you may wish to have a contingency plan in place just in case.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused in advance.
